The Petaloudes Valley, just 27 km from the capital of Rhodes, Greece better known as the Valley of the Butterflies. This unique nature reserve is a beautiful park that stretches along the gorge to the top of the hill. Thanks to numerous streams, small lakes, and waterfalls, as well as dense vegetation and styrax trees that emit fragrant resins, the park has a unique, mild, and humid microclimate that attracts millions of bear butterflies. Every year they flock here from all over Rhodes during the mating season - from late May to September.

The Valley of the Butterflies in Rhodes is a great place to walk in silence and coolness, under the emerald shade of trees, among babbling streams and waterfalls, along graceful bridges and picturesque paths. There are also historical sites in the park. In a secluded corner, there is a stone bench on which the Roman emperor Tiberius loved to rest in ancient times. At the top of the hill is the monastery of Panagia Kalopetra, built-in 1782 by the Greek prince Dmitrios Yupsilantes when he was exiled to Rhodes. The interiors of the small building are decorated with a beautiful iconostasis. A charming citrus garden surrounds the monastery, the terraces offer a magnificent panoramic view of the sea and the island, and there is a cozy tavern at the entrance.
