In five years, photographer Jay Weinstein has traveled through six countries to gather material for his project, entitled "I just asked them to smile." His essence is simple: first Jay takes a portrait of a random stranger, and then asks him to smile in another portrait.
A smile changes everything
Jay chose an extremely diverse group of people for his
project, and the answer to each of his photos is that a smile changes
everything - not just the mood, but the whole picture. If you compare
the portraits before and after the smile, the difference is impressive.
