It is no secret that all military equipment out of the country's ordinance or order is sent for disposal. In each country, the methods are vary. Thai officials came up with their own solution also, it neither harms the environment nor the country.
Waste equipment is sent for recycling. Traditionally, everyone chooses a standard scheme for solving the problem, which consists in sending the equipment for processing to metallurgical enterprises. After the arrival of military vehicles, they are disassembled and re-melted. After which the raw materials are used again. And so they do almost everywhere, but not in Thailand.
01. Waste equipment is sent for recycling.
02.
Since 2010, local authorities have decided to go the unconventional
path. According to the royal decree, more than twenty out-of-service
military vehicles were loaded onto huge barges and taken to the ocean
southward from the country where they were sunk.
03. Dumped tanks will become home to corals.
Why did state authorities decide to do just that. As it turned out, two goals were pursued at once. The first is an increase in the coral population, which has been steadily declining over the past few decades, and naturally, this is the fault of man. Old appliances will be a great home for them.
04. Military equipment at the bottom of the ocean attracts divers.
The second is to create a place for excursions for divers from other countries. Tourists with pleasure go to the ocean to dive in the coastal waters, to see what is hidden there below, to get acquainted with the underwater world. Military equipment will only add a thrill.
5. Thus, the Thai government solved three problems in one fell swoop.
It turns out that with one document the government solved simultaneously three main tasks, namely: to dispose of decommissioned military equipment, give the inhabitants of the ocean a new and fairly good house, and provide the tourism business with another good source of profit.
