Ayam Cemani, a rare species of chickens from Indonesia is completely black bird. Each part of the body of this unique bird is black, from the metallic tide of its feathers to its onyx paws. Even its internal organs are ink color. Such an unusual effect occurred due to the presence in her blood of a dominant gene that causes hyperpigmentation.
This mutation explains the excess of the natural pigment melanin in the
tissues of a living organism. The process takes place even at the stage
of embryonic development, and thanks to it there is a whole separate
species of hens Ayam Cemani in the world, all of whose offspring are
born as black as soot. Ayam means "chicken" in Indonesian. Cemani refers to the village on the island of Java where this breed of chicken originated.
The body weight of the rooster reaches 1.8-2.0 kg., Chicken - 1.2-1.5 kg. The body is narrow, compact, on long legs. The comb is lamellar. The average egg production is 100 cream-colored eggs weighing about 50 grams.
