Graphic designer and history buff Becca Saladin combines his two passions and recreates portraits of famous people of the past. In her Royalty Now project, Becca shows how celebrities and rulers of the past would look in the modern world - with hairstyles and clothes that would be relevant now. Becca has already worked on the rulers of ancient Rome, the British and French monarchs, American presidents and Hollywood actors of the past.

Have you ever imagined what famous people from the past would look like today? Most likely not, but one graphic designer and history buff whose name Becca Saladin thought about this, having created a number of paintings by people popular in the past in a modern look. And here is what the artist herself told about her work and how she got this idea:
Julius Caesar
“Since childhood, I was fascinated by history and archeology. I think that people perceive the past as a series of events; something like a movie that we cannot really feel or touch. “I believe that things that bring us closer to the past really humanize us - bodies from Pompeii, perfectly preserved Inca mummies, personal belongings of long gone and much more.”“I always thought about how incredible it would be to see historical events and people as they really were and how they really looked. I started “Royalty Now” in February 2019 just to see my beloved historical figure, Anna Boleyn, as a modern woman. I wanted to know if she would remain herself, as in several of her pale and dull portraits. I started the story in order to satisfy my curiosity and find out what the representatives of the past would look like, standing right in front of me. I’m incredibly grateful for the support and interest that the account received, and I look forward to what will happen next. ”
Below you can take a look at Saladin’s 16 works, if this doesn’t seem enough to you, then by all means look at her Instagram , where you can find much more transformations of iconic personalities from the past to the modern world.
