Children Who Use Tablets and SmartphonesAare Facing Delays In The Development Of Language — It is not uncommon to see a child who is not yet able to speak using his mother's or dad's cell phone very familiarly: a sign of intelligence or a disturbing reality? According to the University of Toronto experts, the child is much more likely to be exposed to risks than benefits.
According to scholars, in fact, children who do not speak yet but who already use tablets and smartphones are more at risk of developing delays in language.
The conclusions are based on a study that has observed children between two and six years of age, and that correlated the execution time of some activities and the duration of the use of technological devices.
The study shows that the greater the use of smartphones and tablets, the greater the risk of language delays.
In particular, the difficulties are found in the transformation of sounds into articulated words , even when there are no alterations in body language or in social relationships.

The reason can be traced back to the fact that the activities related to the use of light screens do not require the need to develop language skills , which for this reason suffers a slowdown.
The notice was also given by the American association of pediatricians : the use of light screens by children younger than 18 months should be limited or completely eliminated .

👪 Much more useful and beneficial is carrying out activities with
children, ranging from telling stories to singing songs together and
conversing with them : all techniques to encourage the use of speech in
children.
